When your actual orthodontic treatment is complete, it is recommended to retain the beautiful result in the long term.<\/p>\n

The tooth movements and bone remodeling processes in the course of the treatment lead to a slightly looser fit of the tooth roots in the alveoli (tooth compartments in the jaw bones in which the tooth roots are held) for a short transition period. In addition, this often causes the teeth to have a slight tendency to shift back to their old position (relapse).<\/p>\n

In order to prevent this, we make use of bonded retainers running on the inside of the incisor arch in order to stabilize the results of the orthodontic treatment. In addition, removable appliances or aligners are used for orthodontic retention.<\/p>\n

The predisposition is often somewhat more pronounced in adults than in children and adolescents. With the appropriate retention appliances, however, this is easily manageable.
