An orthodontic treatment is a good investment in your child\u2019s dental health and confident smile.<\/p>

The amount of treatment costs cannot be quantified on a flat-rate basis. It depends on various factors and is therefore determined in a personal consultation. We also advise and support you on the possibilities for reimbursement by your health insurance.<\/p>

Public Health Insurance<\/h3>

The assumption of costs by the public health insurance fund is regulated in the SGB V and depends on the medical necessity. This is determined and classified standardized by the orthodontic indication system (KIG). As a result, five different orthodontic degrees of severity are possible, grade 1 to grade 5.<\/p>

From KIG Grade 3 onwards, the treatment costs will be covered. KIG Grade 1 denotes a slight misalignment that is medically insignificant but can affect appearance. Grade 2 of KIG summarizes those cases where treatment for medical reasons may be advisable, but where the malposition is not very pronounced.<\/p>

When the public health insurance cover costs, the self-share principle in accordance with SGB V is applied: for part of the treatment costs, you first pay in advance. You will receive back this self-share from your health insurance company after the successful completion of the orthodontic treatment. In this way, the German legislative power wants to achieve a good cooperation of the patients, which is very important for the success of the treatment (e.g. sufficient wearing of removable braces).<\/p>

The amount of the self-share for the first child is twenty percent of the treatment costs, from the second child it is ten percent.<\/p>

Patients with public health insurance have the option of extending their coverage with private supplementary insurance.<\/p>
