The mykie\u00ae trainer, a functional training device, plays a central role in this process: its consistent use is recorded, evaluated, and, with continuous cooperation, rewarded.<\/p>

Depending on individual development, a small palatal appliance may be necessary as a supplement. This helps to compensate for any lack of width growth in the upper jaw. When does the treatment end \u2013 and what happens next?<\/strong><\/h3>

The active mykie\u00ae treatment phase is usually completed after about 18 months, when key functional goals have been achieved: free nasal breathing, correct swallowing, and stable tongue position at the palate. This lays the foundation for further jaw growth to develop independently and harmoniously.<\/p>

However, even after the active therapy phase, the child’s development continues. Cost coverage: What does health insurance cover?<\/strong><\/h3>

In Germany, statutory health insurance providers (GKV) follow clearly defined criteria that focus primarily on visible tooth and jaw misalignments. Preventive treatment approaches such as those offered by mykie\u00ae are therefore not covered in many cases, unless there is already a significant finding.<\/p>

Cost coverage by the GKV is only possible for children between the ages of 6 and 10 if one of the following criteria is met:<\/p>

  • lateral crossbite<\/strong> (the upper jaw is significantly too narrow)<\/li>
  • frontal crossbite<\/strong> (the upper front teeth bite behind the lower teeth)<\/li>
  • frontal overbite > 9 mm<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>

    Private health insurance companies, supplementary insurance, and private insurance, on the other hand, often recognize the benefits of early treatment and cover all or part of the costs, depending on the selected plan.
